“I have been painting for 22 years for various galleries and private buyers, designed T-shirts and been commissioned to do large murals. I was taught by my mother and my aunt. Many works of mine have been sent both interstate and overseas to places such as Europe, America, Germany and Canada.
My main style is dot paintings from the Central Australian region, using acrylics on all types of mediums including leather, ceramics and canvas. My stories are told through these designs using the traditional symbols passed down from my grandmothers.
I paint about how us as Aboriginal women gather food, pass on stories and teach our children about our culture.
Painting is a passion of mine and I take great enjoyment in working towards the end product. I now pass my knowledge and skills to my children, as well as school students through class activities. I have completed large murals with high school kids, teaching them about traditional paintings and the stories behind them.
This is an important part of who I am as an Aboriginal person”.
